The Hiker Micro Crew wasn’t the first sock we ever knit (that was a run sock) but it is our most popular. And no, we’re not twisting your arm – just a few yarns. Knit with a twist, this limited-edition Hiker twists together two single strands of Merino Wool, creating a buttery softness that’s extra cozy and silky-smooth. Plus, we think the heathered look is pretty rad. Limited offering but still Guaranteed for Life.

Height: Micro Crew
Weight: Midweight
Pair with: Hiking shoes, hiking boots, backpacking boots
Style Number: 1466
  • Men's micro crew socks average 8.5 in. from heel to cuff - expect them to show about 6 in. above a low hiking shoe or just above a standard hiking boot.
  • A performance fit means no slipping, no bunching, no blisters for peak hiking comfort.
  • Our 1466 is one iconic sock. We've made improvements along the way, because that's what we do, but you can't argue with a classic.
  • We close every toe seam using our True Seamless™ Toe technology for an ultra smooth, undetectable feel.
  • Merino Wool is at home on the trail, naturally moving moisture to keep feet fresh and dry in all weather.
  • Our all-season weight, midweight socks thermoregulate to wrap feet in steady comfort when temperatures change.
  • The “still” in Still Made in Vermont, USA is personal. We knit all our socks at our VT-based Mills using the highest quality yarns, sourced from around the globe.
  • Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life - if these aren’t the longest lasting socks you’ve ever owned, return them for another pair.
Cushion
These micro crew hiking socks feature soft terry loops underfoot and targeted protection over the ankle and Achilles - our most popular cushion style. Micro Crew cushion map showing cushion just underfoot

Unrivaled Durability

We make one thing, and we make it better than anyone else – ask any thru hiker and you will likely hear the same. In order to unconditionally guarantee a hiking sock for life, it must be durable. It must maintain its comfort, and it has to fit for miles upon miles on-trail. The socks that do return through warranty inform how we can improve. And we do. Our guarantee is a promise to you, but it’s a standard for us. We have yet to produce our best sock, but we get better with every step.

Can’t go wrong with Darn Tough

"My sock drawer is bursting with Darn Tough socks. I don’t trust any other brand. Love the new color and the fit. Glad I jumped on these early! Love the new color way and white was way overdue."

Robert G. (5/5)

Love em!

"I have never had a bad pair of Darn Tough socks and these are no exception! I love these socks and the warranty that ensures I am not throwing money away! I only own Darn though and it’s truly the only socks I wear. No more athletes foot or stinky feet. I just wish they made underwear! Jon"

Jonathan D. (5/5)

White socks? Oh my!

"I honestly thought I was done with white socks. The fact that they get filthy rather easily and quickly, especially a hiking sock, I have no use for them. Something about the color combo on these appeal to me though, and I couldn’t resist. Yes, I chose these on the colors alone since I’m already familiar with the high quality and excellent customer service. The size is right, and they feel great in the feet."

Martin C. (5/5)

Socks Great - Color Great - No blisters

"Love the new color, but most importantly I love the quality and build of the socks. The socks are sturdy, conform to my feet and no blisters."

Neal L. (5/5)

Great sock, as expected been

"Great sock, as expected been waiting for an at least mostly white micro crew. Thanks guys. Can start to phase out my Wig Wams. These are just at another level. Haven't tried your ultralights yet but soon."

Michael O. (5/5)

Great, as always!

"I love that Darn Tough is making more white socks. These, like all of the socks I have bought from Darn Tough are fantastic and highly recommended!"

Kenneth C. (5/5)

Slightly Prejudiced????

"Disclaimer---Current Darn Tough employee. Best socks ever and I don't say that because I work there. I discovered these years before working for them, and living thousands of miles away from Vermont. I bought a pair on vacation in New England several years ago. Upon returning home to Louisiana, I bought several more on-line and have worn exclusively since. I recently "semi" retired and my wife and I moved to Vermont. In my attempt to go "full Vermont" I bought the necessary Subaru, Blundstones, Phish and Noah Kahan hoodies upon arrival. When getting online to buy even more socks, I saw they had openings for employment, so I gave it a shot. Now I get to make the socks myself and my family love so much. My advice---If this is your 1st pair, go with these. You can't go wrong with 'em but if you ultimately want taller, shorter, more or less cushion, more or less wool content, warmer, cooler, etc. those options are there. These are labeled as hiking socks but you cant beat them for everyday wear. Plus-lifetime warrantee. Don't hesitate."

Sam R. (5/5)

Great Socks

"Great socks. Have been looking for a pair of white socks that didn’t have any piping across like what Bombas has. Feels great on the feet like all the other Darn Tough socks."

Ken F. (5/5)

Number One

"These are truly as comfortable as any socks you can find. Couple that with the guarantee and how could there be anything better?"

Larry B. (5/5)

Great socks. We don't wear

"Great socks. We don't wear anything else. Their are durability and comfort are the best."
